Focus and Scope
The Journal of Veterinary and Applied Sciences (JVAS) is published by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. The JVAS is published twice a year in two issues since 2010. The journal is dedicated to the publication of original research work that contributes to knowledge in all areas of veterinary sciences (animal health and production) and related subjects. Such contributions should be in the form of Full Research papers, Review articles, Short communications, Case Reports and Letters to the Editor. The Editorial Board accepts research articles on large and small farm animals; companion animals such as dogs and cats; avian and aquatic species; biotechnology and biomedical sciences of veterinary interest. All articles published in JVAS are peer-reviewed before publication.

Peer Review Process
JVAS uses double-blind review process with the identities of both the reviewers and authors kept confidential. Our peer review system uses Aries Editorial Manager System Services (http://www.editorialmanager.com). Initial decision on a manuscript is sent to the author(s) within 6-8 weeks after submission who must return the revised copy within 3-4 weeks of the request.

Manuscripts shall be subjected to peer review process by at least two members of the Editorial board or other reviewers to determine their suitability for publication in the journal. The Editors retain the right to modify the style and length of a manuscript to make it conform to the journal format.  However, the Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to return manuscripts that fail to conform to the requirements of the journal.

JVAS at a glance
Chukwunyere Okwudiri Nwosu is presently a Professor of Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1986 with Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. He later obtained M.Sc. (Parasitology, 1990) and Ph.D. (Veterinary Parasitology, 1995) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA, 1998) with specialization in Management from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria and a Membership (MCVSN, 2003) and Fellowship (FCVSN, 2010) Diplomas of the Postgraduate College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria.

Professor Nwosu started his academic career at the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria in 1987 where he rose to become a Professor in October 2006. He later moved to the University of Nigeria in January 2010 where he has remained a Professor and Consultant to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University. His research interests and specialization include epidemiology, host-parasite relationship, ethno-medicine and immunology of parasitic diseases.

Professpr Nwosu has been the Sole or Co-recipient of several national and international research grants; has successfully graduated many postgraduate students and has to his credit, over 100 scientific research publications in peer-reviewed national and international scientific journals.
